Become a Space Professional

To raise and normalize standards for space professionals, we must have a way to validate someone’s knowledge, skills, and experience as a practitioner in the space domain.  The Space Force Association’s Space Certifications Program verifies credentials and establishes your credibility in a rapidly growing, exciting, and diverse field.  Our five certifications (Space Professional I, Space Professional II, Space Executive Professional) provide clients and partners with the confidence that you meet stringent professional standards.  They also show you’re on top of your field through continuous education, training, experiential learning, and interaction to expand your expertise and remain relevant in a highly competitive market.

Space Professional I is an entry-level certification for those with up to 5 years of space domain experience.  These professionals demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the Space Environment; Orbital Mechanics; Spacecraft Maneuvering, Payloads, and Subsystems. The Space Professional Level I certification consists of 64 hours of education provided through our online Space 100 – Introduction to the Space Environment and Space Systems Course.

Space Professional II is a next level certification for those with up to 5 years of space domain experience.  These professionals demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and application as a Space Professional I as well as the Space Mission Design Process; Satellite Communications; Remote Sensing; and Position, Navigation, and Timing systems. The Space Professional Level II certification consists of 64 hours of education provided through our online Space 150 – Space Systems Design Course.

Space Professional III is a mid-level certification for those with 5-10 years of space domain experience.  These professionals demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and application as a Space Professional II as well as National Objectives, Doctrine and Organizational Structure Space Capabilities (Spacelift, Space Domain Awareness, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Position Navigation and Timing, Satellite Communications, Nuclear Detonation Detection, Environmental Monitoring, Missile Warning and Missile Defense). The Space Professional Level III certification consists of 64 hours of education provided through our online Space 300 – Adversary Space Capabilities I Course.

Space Professional IV is a mid-level certification for those with 5-10 years of space domain experience.  These professionals demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, and application as a Space Professional III as well as Space Control (Electronic Warfare, Cyberspace Attack, Directed Energy Weapons, Direct Ascent Anti-Satellite Weapons, Co-Orbital Engagement Systems, and Physical, Nuclear and Debris Threats); and military, commercial, and civil space integration. The Space Professional Level IV certification consists of 64 hours of education provided through our online Space 350 – Adversary Space Capabilities II Course.

Space Executive Professional is a Master Course for Executive and/or Senior Leaders with significant work experience (15+ years) who require grounding in space grand strategy.  These senior leaders demonstrate their understanding and application of the space domain and its supporting architecture; the application of space capabilities and interoperability across military, commercial, and civil space; evaluating threats to and from space; synthesizing space’s impact on strategy, planning, resources, and operations; and analyzing space treaties, policies, and norms. This seminar also allows for significant networking opportunities with fellow executives. The Space Executive Professional certification consists of 24 hours of education provided through a 3-day in-person Space Domain & National Security Executive Seminar.
